Care & Maintenance

Warning: Failure to oproperly maintain the Zinger Winger in good working order could result in bodily injury to the user and/or spectators.

The most important component of the Winger is the Multi-Shot™ Sound Release mechanism. Its maintenance is critical for the Wingers safe operation (especially if the Winger is often exposed to dusty/sandy conditions). Regularly clean and lubricate the release arm, trigger, solenoid plunger and spring (a silicone spray is recommended as it does not attract dirt/dust). All moving parts of the release should move back and forth freely without any stickiness or resistance. If you suspect a faulty release mechanism contact the manufacturer immediately for service.

All moving parts should be regularly sprayed with a high quality lubricant (silicone, graphite, WD-40, etc) to reduce rust, friction and noise. These include but are not limited to pulleys, pulley hooks, support hinges release mechanism, bolt and joint connections, and safety pins.

Regular exposure to UV rays will shorten the life of the rubber bands. While regular use and exposure to the sun will eventually break down the rubber tubing there are a number of things you can do to stretch the life out of the elastics. It is advisable to carry an extra set of replacement rubbers just in case.

  1. Limit the Winger's exposure to the sun where ever possible.
  2. If the Winger is to be left in the field for an extended period (more than a day) of the time the rubber and pouch assembly should be removed and stored out of the sun.
  3. If stored in a vehicle direct exposure to the sun coming through the windows still affect the rubber. Try covering the Winger with a blanket/cover or remove the pouch assembly.
  4. While the Zinger Winger Co. does not have evidence that rubber treatments prolong the life of the rubber tubing it may prove useful to contact these manufacturers direct and research the usefulness of these compounds.

If using the Winger in wet conditions it should be taken indoors, dried and lubricated after each use. Rain will not effect the operation of the release but good maintenance will prevent future servicing.

Use a mild soap and water solution to wipe down the frames, pouch and rubbers.

The remote release electronics have a set of care and maintenance procedures. Consult the manufacturers manuals for specific instructions.
