Are you flying cross country or overseas and your airline requires a crate that conforms to IATA 82 standards? Do you require an extra large, custom sized crate for your dog?
You have probably looked online, called around to your local pet stores, searched crate manufacturers and have come to realize that finding a crate to meet your needs is not so easy. Getting your dog from Point A to Point B can be a frustrating experience. If it is not approached correctly it can also be an extremely expensive and time consuming one as well.
Here at Zinger Sport Dog Gear Inc. we have a solution to this problem. We manufacture an IATA 82 approved DIY package that allows you to construct your own crate based on your individual needs and size requirements. Most airlines require animals to be shipped in a crate that is “IATA 82” approved. This essentially means the crate must adhere to a certain level of strength and safety before it can be used to ship an animal by air. There are strict guidelines that must be followed in the crates construction in order for it to be IATA 82 approved.
This “Over-sized Crate” kit consists of a HD door system, vented panels, and instructions on how to construct and assemble your crate. You provide the wooden panels, screws and assembly to form the “SHELL” of the crate. We supply the most important parts. After the plywood sheets are cut to size and assembled you will simply install the Zinger DIY parts to complete the crate.
Door System - The fully welded solid barred door is the most important component of our kit. It is constructed from lightweight aluminum tubing and welded for extra strength. The door is mounted to the aluminum frame using a full length piano hinge to increase strength. Each door comes complete with a locking stainless steel slam latch and deadbolt striker plate.
Vented Panels - The vented panels are needed to allow the proper amount of air to flow thru the crate. If not enough venting is provided the shipper can turn you away. Not enough ventilation and airflow can cause the animal stress and overheating which can lead to life threatening conditions. Too much ventilation is always better than not enough. Depending on the size of your crate we can advise on how much venting you should have.
Airline Travel Kit – If you are using the crate for air travel you will need the “Airline Travel Package” which is included in this package. This package includes air travel rails, carrying handles, “Live Animal” labels, water and food bowls, ID Tag plus lock and deadbolt covers for extra security. When this kit is added to any Zinger crate it immediately conforms to the IATA 82 Safety Standard.
Important: Depending on the dog breed an airline may demand special requirements in addition to the IATA 82 standard so make sure to check with your airline. Airlines have the right to refuse to fly your dog if the crate is deemed not to conform to their standard so be prepared and know your obligations before you arrive at the airport.
Please note that certain dog breeds (ie. Fighting Breeds) require the crate to be constructed entirely of metal.
For those who are looking to have a crate constructed from start to finish please call us to discuss your options. We will put together a quote which would include everything you will need to put together a crate based on your needs and requirements.
