It goes without saying that our dogs are more than pets. They are an important part of our families lives and thus need to be provided with the utmost of care and treatment. Zinger crates provide the highest level of safety and security whethur its being utilized it for house use, airline travel or just getting around town. A Zinger crate is a heavy duty dog crate constructed from lightweight aluminum. Zinger aluminum dog crates offer incredible strength at one third the weight of steel. Unlike plastic and wire crates which easily crack and bend and need to be frequently replaced, Zinger crates are built to last a lifetime and to safely contain your dog.
No, coat discoloration is common when a dog sits in an untreated aluminum crate. ZINGER crates are finished in a durable baked on Silver Hammertone
Yes, by installing our optional "Airline Travel Package" the crate can be used to ship a dog by air. ZINGER crates exceed the strength and ventilation requirements by most airlines. Strong aluminum crates will not bust or be broken by rough handling or shifting cargo loads thereby safe guarding your dog on route. When shipped in a Zinger crate your dog is protected. Note: While most airlines follow the international standards set out by the IATA 82 rules, some may have specific requirements and limitations that may affect the transportation of your dog. Always check with your airline to determine their exact requirements.
We have created a video with a tutorial on how to properly install and adjust the lock. Please follow this link.

While each airline may have their own size requirements most follow the IATA 82 standard. This standard rule of thumb is that when the dog is standing in a normal relaxed position the crate should measure 2 inches above the top of his head and 2 inches longer than the measurment from nose to base of tail. The width of the crate should measure 1.5 times the width of the dog at its widest point but this measurement typically does not come into play as most crates are much wider than this. A visial indicator for the airline attendants who are in charge of getting your dog onto the plane is that they are able to see your dog comfortably stand up and turn around in the crate.
By its very nature aluminum quickly dissipates heat making it a great material to construct dog crates provided there is enough ventilation. A Zinger crate is fully vented down each side and along the back wall to provide maximum air flow and comfort for your dog. Our open design allows air to pass freely through the door aided by the triple rows of lower and upper vent holes which surround the crate. Lots of adequate venting ensures your dog will remain safe while in its crate.
Our standard sized crates you see on this website are typically in stock and can ship the same day in most cases. If your order is time sensitive it is best to call us directly to ensure we can meet your delivery target. For custom orders it can take 2-8 weeks to build and the cost will be higher due to the custom build. For custom quotes give us a call.
We currently offer several sizes, models and entry configurations designed to accommadate most needs. For a complete offering follow this link to our comparison charts
Zinger crates can be easily coupled together in a side by side design. As a matter of fact the modular design of Zinger crates allow you to assemble a kennel bank of multiple crates side by side and atop of each other. Please call us for specific information on your requirements.
The door of a Zinger crate is constructed using solid 3/8" vertical round bars and reinforced with 3/4" x 3/4" horizontal supports. Each bar is welded at each through hull for extra strength. A full length piano hinge and the stainless steel locking latch is standard on all models. The doors on a Zinger crate are the strongest and have the most ventilation you can find on any crate in the market.

We designed our crates from the inside out and understand that a dog who is determined to escape will bite, scratch and claw at the inise of the crate. We have minimized as much as possible any edges and trouble spots on the inside of the crate that a dog may focus on. The well being of your dog is our most important concern.
Yes, we offer several models of 2 door and 3 door configurations. This feature is handy for accessing the dog from different points of your vehicle or home.
Yes, the doors are reversible so you can change the opening from left to right (and visa versa) by simply changing the stainless steel mounting screws. Shouldn't take much more than 10 - 15 minutes.
Yes, but for that determined Houdini artist we recommend you get the Professional of Heavy Duty series. There is no denying the strength of our aluminum crates. They are designed to be structurally solid compartments to provide a safe rigid container for your dog. We had one of our customers go thru a fairly high speed crash where the Zinger crates and the dogs faired well. See link to our blog post. Crash testing has recently become a popular topic among various dog groups so we are looking at this closely. From what we have researched so far crates that have been supposedly tested are not completely independent of the manufacturer so we have a problem with claims that are derived from such tests. Any testing facilities that are used by crate manufacturers are being paid by the manufacturer so common sense dictates that a bias will exist and the conclusions may be false. There are just too many variables in testing that you may not be seeing the whole picture. That said if we can find a credible test facility that can produce real life type testing we will consider having them done but to date Zinger crates have not been tested in any crash simulation tests.

A Zinger Winger remote bird launcher is used in the training of dogs for field trials, hunt tests, waterfowl and upland hunting. It is an invaluable tool to a field dog trainer by improving the dogs natural marking and hunting abilty. It accomblishes this by throwing marks high into the air simulating the realistic fall of a bird shot in flight. All the while giving the trainer the flexibility to train whenever he/she wants based solely on their own time schedule. By having the ability to throw quality marks by yourself you no longer need to depend on your family or friends to train your dog to the highest of trial and hunting standards.
Zinger Winger remote launchers are powered by heavy duty rubber bands that are stretched tight through a catapult and pulley system. The pouch that holds the bird is attached to a release mechanism that is tripped manually or by remote electronics. Once triggered the resulting launch throws the bumper/bird far into the air simulating a bird in flight for the working dog.
We have configured all Zinger Wingers to work using the Dogtra RR Deluxe system straight out of the box. We have used and recommended this Dogtra system for over 20 years due its dependablity, durabilty, battery life and ease of use. The Garmin Pro Control RL and the Sport Dog system will also work well on all Zinger Wingers simply by changing the polarity of the wires at the Zinger Winger release mechanism (a quick 2 minute job). Some of the older and no longer manufactured Innotek, Bumper Boy and other electronics will work with some modifications. Call us for further information on your setup.
The model you choose will be based upon a number of personal factors such as the type of training you are doing, storage space in your vehicle, your physically capacity to carry winger and gear into the field, what you mainly throw for your dog (ducks, pigeons, bumpers, Dokkens, etc.) and how high and far you require the mark to be thrown. See this chart for a detailed overview but feel free to call us for further advise.

The first thing is follow this link to our troubleshooting page. Here you may be able to quickly pin point the problem. If you still cannot solve your problem, call us for troubleshooting advise.

A Zinger Winger remote launcher throws marks higher and further than anything on the market. Any marks you will get to see at a typical weekend hunt test and field trial can be had with a Zinger Winger. Just how far a winger can throw a mark is is dependant on several factors. Typically, the longer the winger is the more rubber is used and the higher the throw will be. The other determining factor on the winger is the thickness of rubber and the power settings used. The thicker the rubber the bigger the throw. Several external factors to affect the throw include how windy it is and how heavy the birds you are using are. Wet, heavy mallards will not sail further than dry ducks. For more information, see our Distance and Height comparison chart for all models.
Most people need to determine what maximium size they can store in their vehicle before deciding what model to buy. Its not good if you have a winger that cannot fit properly into your rig. The Mini-Z is our smallest model and is best suited to the "storage challenged". This small compact winger will fit easily into SUVs, mini vans and small compact cars. The popular Field Trialer is quite a bit longer but will fit easily into the back of short box trucks and the breezeways of most dog trailers. The Zinger Winger II fits behind the back seat of short box trucks. For more information, see our Size and weight comparison chart for all models
Yes, the trigger of every Zinger Winger has a hole where a pull cord or trip stick can be attached.
No, Zinger Wingers are stable free-standing units that can be used without staking them to the ground. Where it may be prefered to permanently secure a winger to the ground we have drilled 5/8" holes at the base of each winger so steel stakes can be inserted. If a winger is going to be set up all day for a field trial or hunt test this may be a good idea so all throws are the same for each dog.
Each winger comes fully assembled and ready to use. You merely need to charge your electronics and plug and play. Setting up a Zinger Winger in the field takes 10 -20 seconds. Its super easy and quick to save time so you can do more training and less setting up. See our video here
Yes, we have 2 different release mechanisms that offer differnet shot types: the Sure-Shot and the Multi-Shot. Most models come standard with our the Multi-Shot release which will fire a 209 primer as well as a .22 and .32 caliber blank. The .32 blank offers the same sound range as a 12 gauge popper load. This makes for a louder report which comes into play when training out past 200 yards. The Uplander and Zinger Winger II come standard with our Sure-Shot release which only fires a 209 primer. The sound can be heard out to 150 yards depending on weather and terrain conditions.
While Zinger Winger products are among the safest and best built on the market it cannot be stressed enough that they can be dangerous tools if not handled properly. The forces generated by Zinger Wingers and any other launching device can cause severe bodily injury if proper operating procedures are not followed. Zinger Sport Dog Gear Inc. recommends young and inexperienced individuals not be allowed to operating these products.
Zinger Wingers are simply built better and will last a lifetime. Better design and materials may mean it will cost a bit more but any extra cost is quickly recouped in its dependability and durabilty. Years of field use by pros and amateurs alike have proven that we make the most reliable and dependability remote wingers on the market. Our service is second to none. If something goes wrong along the way we will stand behind our product and look after you our customer. Our reputation is built on this philosophy and that is what you are buying when you purchase a Zinger Winger product. And for those who care to know, all Zinger Wingers are built in Ontario, Canada using parts sourced from Canadian and USA suppliers. Knock offs like the Gunners Up are manufactured and packaged in China. Don"e;t let some of their dealers tell you otherwise, they are wholly Made in China.
While some people have reported their rubbers lasting 2 - 3 years you can expect them to last up to a year under normal use. It will all depend on how well you look after your equipment and how often you use the winger. It has been reported that aftermarket rubber treatment products like 309 Aerospace Protectant may extend the life of the rubber. The older the rubber the less performance you will receive. For this reason it is recommended you replace the rubbers at least once a year.
We cover you with a limited lifetime warranty on the winger including frame, release, hardware and welding. Because of normal wear and tear the parts of the winger that are not covered under the lifetime warranty include the wiring, servos and vinyl pouches. These all have a 1 year warranty. Due to the chemical properities of the latex rubber tubing and the care and ownership variables beyond our control we can only cover rubber tubing for 6 months.

Each Winger model has its own size for rubber tubing, as per the following table:

Model Tubing Length Tubing Type
Mini Zinger 25" Heavy Duty
Zinger Winger II 28" Standard
Field Trialer 32" Standard
Hunt Tester 35" Heavy Duty
